As an Apparel Intern at Raw Mango, I had the opportunity to work closely with a brand rooted in Indian textiles, craftsmanship, and timeless design. The internship helped me understand garment development with a strong cultural base and a modern approach. Through the design and production process, I gained hands-on experience with silhouettes, fabric selection, surface details, and construction techniques that shape Raw Mango’s identity. This experience deepened my appreciation for slow fashion and strengthened my interest in blending traditional textile knowledge with contemporary apparel design.
Execution
During my internship at Raw Mango, I worked closely on the Garland Collection for the fashion show, primarily within the apparel division. My role involved coordinating directly with tailors and master ji to support garment development and execution. I assisted in creating textures and also worked on accessories such as bags that complemented the collection. Regular communication with the tailoring team was essential to ensure smooth workflow, accurate execution of design ideas, and timely progress. Working with a team of around 18–19 people, this experience helped me understand how a design idea is translated from concept to reality—through fittings, fabric handling, and on-ground execution—while strengthening my ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
I worked closely with karigars on the embroidery for the Garland Collection. I was responsible for overseeing the embroidery work, ensuring that design details, placement, and finishes were executed as intended. I assisted in developing embroidery samples for the collection as well as for upcoming designs, coordinating between the design team and karigars to translate concepts into handwork. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of embroidery processes, sampling, and the precision required to integrate craft seamlessly into contemporary garments.tters, that works well on almost every site.
