Trans- Seasonal wear:A Sustainable Alternative To Fast Fashion
Adaptive Forms
This project explores colour blocking as a strategic and intentional design approach inspired by Delhi’s evolving urban palette. The collection consists of five versatile staples developed through modular construction and conscious material selection, focusing on sustainability and longevity of resources. By prioritizing layering potential and structural flexibility, it supports thoughtful design decision-making across seasons. Positioned as an alternative to fast fashion, the project promotes intentional wardrobes built on durability, adaptability, and long-term use.
Concept/ Inspiration
Delhi experiences distinct seasonal shifts-summer, spring, autumn, and winter each with its own colour mood and atmosphere. I documented these changes through photographs and extracted dominant hues that consistently appeared across seasons. This process resulted in a versatile colour palette designed to transition seamlessly throughout the year.

Fabric Board
Fabric exploration examined fibre composition, weight, weave, texture, drape, and opacity to assess overall material behaviour. Durability and seasonality were key factors in determining performance across different climates. These parameters directly informed silhouette direction and layering adaptability within the collection.

Design Approach
The collection explores transeasonal dressing through versatile separates such as shirts, coats, jackets, trousers, and pants. Keeping the needs of different seasons in mind, the garments were designed to function across changing weather conditions. Different fabrics were explored based on their texture, weight, and comfort, and color blocking was used as a key visual element. Designed as individual pieces, the garments can be worn separately or layered and styled across seasons, encouraging rewearability and a more mindful approach to dressing.

Reflection
This project explores transseasonal wear as a sustainable response to fast fashion, focusing on versatile garments that can be worn across multiple seasons. By emphasizing longevity, adaptability, and thoughtful material choices, it promotes mindful consumption and extends garment life. The approach balances functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability while reducing environmental impact.
The project resulted in four final garments, with additional ideas explored through illustrations. Each piece is designed to be worn across multiple seasons, supported by fabrics chosen for their adaptable properties. The colour palette is easily transferable from one season to another, reinforcing the concept of a versatile and long-lasting wardrobe.
